Need a logo? Or some signage? How about cartoon characters or a sophisticated layout? Then Adobe Illustrator is for you. In this first level, you'll learn how Illustrator thinks and how to set up the interface to suit your needs. You'll utilize half the tools in the toolbox to create shapes both simple and complex. You'll be introduced to your new best friend the Appearances palette and then learn how to prepare your files for use in other programs.
Graphic Designers choose Illustrator for one reason: control. From advanced typography to the development of a scientifically sound color palette, you will learn how to create highly polished professional graphics. The Appearance Panel will add heft to your objects and Live Objects will give you the ability to create variations on a theme almost instantly.
Layers and selections are as critical in Illustrator as in Photoshop. Students will also investigate the how Effects improve your document and also complicate it. Advanced Live Objects take vector art to the next level. The course will also cover transparency settings and ways to ensure your document is ready for print or digital.
Adobe InDesign has become the clear choice for production professionals when mocking up a new ad, catalog, or any project that is longer than one page. Learn the basics of getting content on the page and positioned accurately. Also learn the ins-and-outs of the interface and how to package a document for print.
In this course students will learn how to plan and execute long documents using one of InDesign's most important techniques: styles. This includes Master Pages, Paragraph Styles, Character Styles, and Object Styles. In addition, students will also learn how InDesign excels as a vector-based program.
There's no piece if there's no production. Learn important production techniques relating to layers, fonts, and layout. Many specialty styles are also covered, including those pertaining to lists and tables. Students will also learn how to create complex shapes using InDesign’s various path commands.
